TALK OF THE TOON!

The 2011 Transfer window went out with a huge bang with approx: £215m being spent in total. Compare this to the 2010 total of approx: £29m we can see that activity was a lot busier than the previous January window.

Newcastle supporters will be shocked - to say the least - at the sale of their top hit man Andy Carroll to Liverpool for £35m

Carroll was Newcastle's "get out of jail free card" when it came to scoring goals and he will be a good replacement for Fernando Torres, who was sold by Liverpool to Chelsea.

A good signing for Liverpool but where does that leave Newcastle and their avid supporters.
The "Transfer window" closed and questions will be asked by all connected to the club about what is best for Newcastle FC.

Yes, it was great in a business sense but in football terms - ie scoring goals - then it doesn't make sense to the Geordie faithful. Toon fans, I'm sure will be gutted at this transfer activity from their club and I'm sure they would prefer to have his goals from now until the end of the season instead of the money generated from it. Unless of course the club found a quality replacement, which never materialised.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to Newcastle and Liverpool for the remainder of the season. Will Carroll set Liverpool on fire and will Newcastle score enough goals with what they have.

An amazing last day in the January Transfer window which will be the TALK OF THE TOON  in the North East.
