Internazionale won the Club World Cup on Saturday after their 3-0 win vs TP Mazembe. However, comments after the game by Benitez asking "back me or sack me" were said to be "Inappropriate" by Internazionale President, Massimo Moratti.
Moratti told reporters. "I prefer not to talk today to avoid the risk of creating controversies".
Reports in Italy suggest that Benitez will be replaced by former Roma coach Luciano Spalletti, now with Zenit St Petersburg.
Inter are currently 7th in Serie A and 13 points behind leaders AC Milan.
Benitez joined Internazionale on the 10th June 2010 on a 2 year deal.
The majority of Inter fans support Benitez but it is believed that he will be sacked.
